Designed to empower participants with a robust understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and corporate sustainability practices, the training underscored the importance of sustainability as a business imperative in the modern corporate landscape.

The training covered five comprehensive modules, highlighting best practices through real-life case studies from Bangladeshi companies and featured interactive quizzes, lectures, and participatory activities to enhance engagement and knowledge retention.

The training was facilitated by an esteemed panel of experts: Mabrur M. Chowdhury, Country Programme Manager at UNGC; Juliana Lawson, Coordinator of Stakeholder Engagements, UNGC Bangladesh; Ole Rosenborg Justesen, Sector Counselor for Labor Rights & Decent Work at the Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh; Shadman Sakib Anik, CSRMTM, Executive Director of ESG Institute Bangladesh; Mashook Chowdhury, Senior Manager for Sustainability at DBL Group; and Khondkar Morshed Millat, Faculty Member of BIBM and former Director of the Sustainable Finance Department at Bangladesh Bank.

In his closing address, Mominul Islam, Chairman of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd, commended the participants for their dedication to advancing corporate sustainability. “Sustainability is no longer a choice; it is an essential component of long-term business success,” said Mr. Islam. “The knowledge and skills gained today will enable our corporate leaders to embrace ESG principles and drive transformative change within their organizations.”

Shadman Sakib Anik, CSRMTM Executive Director of the ESG Institute Bangladesh, emphasized the significance of the training. “This program represents a critical step forward in embedding ESG principles into the core of corporate decision-making in Bangladesh,” he said. “We are building a community of leaders who are equipped to navigate the complexities of sustainability and foster a future where businesses contribute positively to society and the environment.”

Adding her perspective, Juliana Lawson, Coordinator of Stakeholder Engagements, UNGC Bangladesh, highlighted the collaborative spirit of the initiative. “Today’s training exemplifies the power of collective learning. By bringing together leaders from diverse industries, we are fostering a shared commitment to sustainability that transcends sectors and strengthens the foundation for a more resilient future,” she said.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants who successfully completed the training, marking a milestone in their journey as ESG champions. This initiative reflects the growing commitment to sustainability and ESG in Bangladesh’s corporate sector, underscoring the importance of such training programs in preparing businesses for a sustainable future.

Bangladesh needs $980M per year for its 2030 renewable target. Almost none of it arrives without credible disclosures.

Bangladesh Targets $1B a Year from Carbon Markets. Thailand Shows What It Really Takes.

FY27 budget: 11 new Article 6 carbon projects. Half the coastal mangrove belt under carbon trading. $1 billion annually in projected carbon revenue. These are real ambitions — Bangladesh genuinely has the carbon assets. The problem is that in April 2026, Thailand sold 49,717 verified carbon credits to Switzerland. Bangladesh has not sold one internationally verified unit. The difference is entirely institutional: Thailand built the MRV system first. Bangladesh announced the revenue target.
